Farm Store Launch

Our New Model

Rather than vending at the Bloomfield Saturday Market each week, we will be popping up at the market on a few select dates throughout the 2026 season. While this farmers market has been our home since the farm started in 2016, we are excited to sell direct to customers in a new way that feels more sustainable for our farm team at this time. The new model we are trying this season is an online farm store with neighborhood delivery and pickup locations. We’ll also have a larger selection of produce regularly available at Mayfly Market in the Northside of Pittsburgh.

The Online Farm Store

Each week, we’ll list the fresh produce we have available, as well as products from other local growers and producers, including meat, eggs, and vegetables on our Online Farm Store. You’ll find the link for our Online Farm Store on our website and you can easily bookmark this page for quick reference. This season, we will have three pick-up locations for you to choose from; in the East End (Jackworth Ginger Beer), Sharpsburg (Hitchhiker Brewing), and on the Northside (Allegheny City Brewing). We will also be trialing a home delivery program for a limited number of folks within our existing delivery route. We are limiting the number of home deliveries to fit within our current capacity and we want to prioritize folks who can really benefit from this option. To aid us in the coordination of our delivery route, we have created an application for home delivery which can be found here. To be eligible for home delivery you must live within the following zip codes: 15224, 15201, 15208, 15206, 15232, or 15212. Please consider choosing from our neighborhood pickup locations in the East End, Sharpsburg, and the Northside if you have the means to do so and let folks with limited mobility, time constraints, and other accessibility needs be the ones to benefit from the option of home delivery.  All orders on the Farm Store will require a $30 order minimum and will be delivered or picked up Thursday evenings. More detailed information can be found on the Farm Store page on our website.

Farm Credit Program

While the Online Farm Store will be open to anyone to shop from weekly, we have a farm credit program that will allow folks to pre-purchase credits to use in the Farm Store throughout the season. Pre-purchasing credits allows you to take 10% off the total amount you spend throughout the season. Farm credits can be purchased at $200, $500, $700, & $1000 increments. Farm credits never expire and can be re-upped at any time. While you can buy or re-up farm credits at any time, buying credits at the beginning of the season helps us have cash flow in the spring when we need it most.

The perks of purchasing farm credits are:

  • 10% discount on all Farm Store credits: for example, spend $900 on credits to get $1000 to use on produce throughout the season

  • Support the farm early! By paying for food upfront, you allow us to invest in seeds, equipment, and infrastructure, which greatly improves the overall financial stability of our farm

  • Eligibility to apply for free home delivery if within the delivery zone

Partner Producers

We are excited to be partnering with other local growers and producers to offer a wider array of items in our Farm Store. We will be listing our own veggies as well as produce from our friends at Coldco and from John Paul’s Farm. Coldco is located in Verona and offers a really incredible selection of Italian specialty crops and cold-hardy vegetables. John Paul’s Farm is located in East Wheatfield Township and sells locally at the Squirrel Hill Market. Jane and John-Paul are excellent growers and we’re excited to offer their potatoes, cabbages, and beets. We will be working with our farm neighbors Blackberry Meadows to offer their pork products and will be partnering with Pittsburgh Pastures to offer eggs and poultry. Farming has always been about the food, but it’s also always been about the relationships, and we’re excited to embark on this new chapter together– with our crew, our fellow farms, and our communities.

It's important to note that we’re not trying to become a large-scale aggregator and distributor. The aim of our model is more akin to a decentralized hub and spoke model for regional collaboration and distribution that cuts out middle men, brings consumers closer to their food producers, and brings the producers closer to each other. We’re focused on sustainable scale so we’re starting small. This will hopefully allow us to work out the kinks, solve any problems that arise in real time, and scale responsibly if and when more people want to get involved.

Why an online farm store model?

We are excited by this new model as it will allow us to grow at a scale that is more in-line with our current capacity. Previously, we were motivated to grow as much as possible to ensure that our stand at the farmers market was abundant and diverse. Pivoting to an online model will create more intentionality with how our time is spent, not spending up-front labor hours harvesting, washing, packing, and transporting food to be sold in a market where sales are not guaranteed.

If you’ve read this far, we hope it's because you’re as excited by this new model as we are! Here are some more details to help inform your decision as to whether or not to pre-purchase farm credits— or maybe more accurately, how many credits you’ll pre-purchase 😉

Seedling sales:

We are excited to offer a wide variety of seedlings for your home garden in May! We will pop up at the Bloomfield Saturday Market on May 9th, 16th, and 23rd with seedlings and likely with some spring veg. After May seedling sales, we will begin having produce available weekly in the online farm store.

So what are we growing, anyways?

As stated above, this year is one of big changes for us and big efforts towards aligning the work we’re doing with our capacity as a team. So, we’re growing a more refined selection of produce! The crops that we’ll be focusing on for the 2026 season are:

  • lettuce mix

  • carrots

  • kale

  • kohlrabi

  • chard

  • hakurei turnip

  • tomatoes (cherry, heirloom, paste)

  • peppers (jalapeño, shishito, sweets)

  • melons (watermelon & cantaloupe)

  • summer squash

  • beets

  • winter squash

  • napa cabbage

  • celeriac

  • garlic

  • culinary herbs (dill, cilantro, chives, basil, parsley, thyme, rosemary, sage, shiso, lemongrass, violas, nasturtium, thai basil)

  • flowers (snapdragon, zinnias, cosmos, amaranth, celosia, marigolds, strawflower, bergamot, yarrow)

  • dye plants! (indigo, marigold, dyers chamomile)

  • medicinal herbs (calendula, marshmallow, feverfew, blue vervain, & more to come!)

Due to the nature of farming, which is dependent on seasonal weather and ecological changes, neither we nor our partner producers can guarantee the timing or availability of the produce listed. Vegetables may be added or removed from the seasonal offerings as we adjust our successional plantings and assess harvest volumes in real time. With this model, we’ll be able to update our offerings each week to bring you the freshest selection of what we have growing each season!

Thank you for meeting us in the journey to transform this little farm into a more sustainable & supportive hub in our local food system! We’re busy seeding and prepping the fields and are so excited to bring you beautiful & delicious produce this season. Check out our events page for seedling sales and pop-up dates in April and May. See yous soon!

Happy spring equinox!
